Movies To Watch, Homework To Do, Teams To Pray For

It’s weird how some popcorn movies go well with some and not for others. This is especially true with movies directed by Michael Bay. I’ve heard some call him a hack director, while others can’t get enough of his flicks. I will say that his films are always well-made. With his last film Transformers I heard equally mixed reactions. It’s certainly entertaining, but there were two glaring issurs I had with it.

Funny Face (50th Anniversary Edition) (1957)

San Diego Padres + New York Mets Might Not Play In October

Leading their respective divisions for much of the season matters little since their rivals played better than they did in September. If you combine the add the days that both the Padres and Mets led their divisions over the course of the season, you’d probably get a full year’s worth.

Ichiro Suzuki Is A Hit Machine

Ichiro is the first player since 1900 to have 230 or more hits in three different seasons. He had 242 hits in 2001, 262 in 2004 and has 234 this season. Freddy Lindstrom (1928, 1930) and Rogers Hornsby (1921–22) were the only players who’d reached 230 hits in a season more than once in the modern era. — Seattle P-I

Face/Off (Special Collector’s Edition) (1997)

The movie climate has changed much in the last ten years. One of the casualties, some might argue, is the action film – the guy flick (don’t even ask me about the state of science fiction). When was the last time Arnold Schwarzenegger had a hit movie? Granted he’s been away for political reasons, but his brand of action film seems to be lost to modern audiences.

Manny Ramirez Is Back In The BoSox Lineup

Reaction: The Red Sox staff must be cautiously optimistic about getting Ramirez back.” — Buster Olney’s reaction to Manny’s return to the Boston Red Sox lineup after what seems like forever.

Eisley + Mute Math = Great Concert

Last night’s concert was great. I can’t say the same thing about the venue. It was a small club located on a block corner situated to the east of an auto dealership and to the south of a trailer park. Make your assumptions.
