Franklin High School in Stockton, California was severely reprimanded by the California Interscholastic Federation Sac-Joaquin Section’s board of managers for using three players from American Somoa. The school’s football coaches flew the families to Stockton and put them in hotels long enough for the mothers to register the boys for school. Wow.
Nicole Atkins isn’t your typical singer. But when you find out that she’s from New Jersey, it makes so much more sense. She’s actually from Neptune City, New Jersey, hence the album title. Anyone who has ever listened to Bruce Springsteen can almost immediately recognize the similar Americana themes.
A band starting to gain notice is Hot Springs, consisting of front-woman Giselle Webber (guitar), Rémy Nadeau-Aubin (guitar), Frédéric Sauvé (bass), and Anne Gauthier (drums). Right off the bat, you can tell the band wouldn’t let up with its music.
If the baseball gods had anything to do with the outcome of this year’s WS, the rest of the games will play out like Game Two with pitching duels. But more likely, Games Three and Four will probably look more like game one with dominate Boston pitching, like Josh Beckett being completely godlike in dismantling the Rockies fundamental offense.
Tiger Woods left his competitors on the golf course gasping for air this year with seven victories in only 16 tournaments, including four wins in his last five events. His scoring average of 67.8 was 1.5 strokes better than the second-place finisher, Ernie Els. For perspective on how big a gap that is on the PGA Tour, 1.5 strokes was also the difference between No. 2 Els and the 88th-ranked player in scoring average. – Tiger Woods as 2007’s $$$ Athlete.
