It usually takes bands and musicians, particularly indie ones, a few years of touring and releasing neglected records to gain critical and popular acclaim. The band Fields has an odd distinction of being the unusual band that got noticed relatively quickly.

Metric — Grow Up And Blow Away (2001)
This album seemed lost in that endless cycle of large music labels buying small labels, with bands, musicians, and entire albums forgotten during that turnover. Here is happy news for music fans as one of these casualties is finally seeing the light of day. Metric’s first full-length album Grow Up And Blow Away is finally being released after an eight year delay by its current label, Last Gang Records.
Super Babe: Connie Nielsen
I recently watched Brian De Palma’s Mission To Mars and I finally realized how gorgeous Connie Nielsen is. I mean she was super hot in The Devil’s Advocate and Gladiator. She was really wholesome in the dreadful The Great Raid, and I’m currently seeing her as a law enforcement badass in her short stint on Law & Order: SVU.
Northern State — Better Already EP (2007)
The term band exists for rock, and I guess for pop too. For hip hop, the term group is used, but I’d like to make a case that Northern State might actually be the first female hip hop band. Named after a highway in Long Island, New York, Northern State comprises of Robyn “Sprout” Goodmark, Julie “Hesta Prynn” Potash, and Correne “Spero” Spero.
Harold Reynolds Is Back
Well, I won’t be watching ESPN or its Baseball Tonight any less, but I’ll be looking at MLB.com a little more now that they’ve hired Harold Reynolds for analysis coverage.
Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip Lovin’
It’s a shame that this very good show won’t return next season. At least the season has resumed. The show’s main problem: the sketches aren’t funny enough. If you have a show that’s about a sketch comedy show, the comedy show part must be funny.
