Top 5: Classic On-Screen Beauties

What has become of the Hollywood beauty? Before, these beauties lit up the screen as if they were born to be on it. Nowadays, film is littered with a different kind of beauty — the one cast just because of how she looks. No offense to Jessica Alba or Jessica Biel, but they don’t emit the same screen presence that classic Hollywood regularly gave birth to. Yes, Angelina Jolie looks very good with Brad Pitt, but Jolie’s voluptuousness doesn’t come close to matching Monroe’s radiance.

Finest Dearest — Pacemaker EP (2005)

Formed in 2004, this San Francisco indie band has a bright future ahead. Finest Dearest is led by Carly on vocals, Christine and Josh on guitar, Cheryl on keys, Mica on cello and Steve on drums. If you read “cello” then you might have had the same reaction as I did. Instruments beyond the mandatory guitars and drums aren’t uncommon — Yellowcard has a violin and Linkin Park has its own turntable — for a rock band, but certainly are strange to have.

The Juliana Theory — Deadbeat Sweetheartbeat (2005)

You could make a case for The Juliana Theory being the forerunner for today’s alternative sound. Formed in 1997, the Brett Detar led band has always tweaked its sound to stay contemporary, but always has maintained its core music.

In A Lot Of Pain

Well, today I had my dentist appointment, and I’m in a lot of pain. So much pain that I’m not going to school for the next two days. I can’t talk for 48 hours so there’s no point to go to my classes. I’m going to email my professors and tell them the good news.

What’s up Joc?

So for the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed that I’ve been MIA and for that, I apologize. Here, have a fill-in. Finals– scary, big, over (grades of A– and C achieved yay!) Indiana– wedding, godmother, extended family, new house (not mine), total loss of diet, gambling, etc. Glendale– home, family, The Corpse Bride, Flight

Only A Few More Days Of Vacation

Thursday is a new start of another school year, and boy am I not looking forward to it — well, 50/50. Another generation of cute girls awaits to be discovered, although BEG will tell you that I won’t be active in any girlfriend finding… Ghandi always believed in passivity.

Sad… No Milkshakes For Me

I didn’t get invited into the milkshake study that I wanted to do. You get paid $200 in Safeway giftcards and all you do is drink a few milkshakes and draw a little blood. Sadly, I missed the cut-off of the study score of 12 by one! Dammit. I love milkshakes.
