Former Minnesota Twins stud pitcher Francisco Liriano lost Monday night and fell to a Barry Zito-esque 5-12 record and a 5.80 ERA. Liriano doesn’t seem to have fully regained his former 2006 form after undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2008.
Barry Zito earned his first win of the 2009 season in a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night. Zito allowed one run over six innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.
If Zito were to produce, he wouldn’t be a “lock” to be just a fourth starter nor would he drag the team’s morale by stressing the offense and bullpen.
Barry Zito earned his first victory in a tumultuous 2008 season with an 8-2 victory over the NL East leading Florida Marlins Friday night (5.23.08).
